Placement results dropped. You got your university. You're not happy with it.

Good news — KUCCPS officially opened the inter-institutional transfer window on July 15, 2026. You have 30 days from that date to apply.

What You Can Actually Change ✓ Transfer to a different university — keep your current course ✓ Transfer to a different course — keep your current university ✓ Transfer to a different university AND a different course ✗ You cannot apply for a course you don't meet the cluster points or subject requirements for ✗ You can only apply for one institution and one programme per application

Step-by-Step: How to Apply

1. Log in to students.kuccps.net using your KCSE index number 2. Click "Transfer Application" tab on your dashboard 3. Enter the 7-digit code of the institution and programme you want to transfer to 4. Select your reason for transfer 5. Attach a supporting document if applicable — medical letter, PWD certificate, proof of financial hardship, etc. 6. Write a brief explanation: minimum 300 characters, maximum 600 characters 7. Pay Ksh 1,000 via eCitizen — use the eCitizen Payment Reference Code, not M-Pesa transaction code 8. Submit your application using the eCitizen reference 9. Monitor progress through the portal

What Happens After You Submit

Your application goes through three stages:

  • Receiving institution — reviews whether they have available space in the programme
  • Releasing institution — your current university confirms your release
  • KUCCPS — conducts final review and approves or rejects

Approval takes between one day and two weeks depending on the institutions involved. You can track every stage through the portal.

If Your Application Is Rejected

You can submit another transfer request for a different institution or programme during the same window — without paying another Ksh 1,000 fee. The window stays open until August 14.

FRAUD WARNING — READ THIS On July 10, KUCCPS warned students against fake transfer forms circulating on WhatsApp and social media. The fraudulent forms were charging Ksh 1,000 application fee PLUS an additional Ksh 600 "service fee" payable through a mobile money number.

KUCCPS was clear: all genuine transfer applications are submitted exclusively through students.kuccps.net. No external links. No WhatsApp forms. No third-party "agents."

If anyone sends you a transfer form that is NOT from students.kuccps.net — it's a scam. Do not pay. Do not share your details.

Key Dates

  • Transfer window opened: July 15, 2026
  • Transfer window closes: approximately August 14, 2026
  • Approval timeline: 1 day–2 weeks after submission

Important Reminders Before You Apply ✓ Check that your cluster points meet the cut-off for the programme you're transferring to — if they don't, your application will be rejected automatically ✓ Competitive courses like Medicine, Pharmacy, and top Engineering programmes have very limited transfer slots — rejection likelihood is high ✓ The Ksh 1,000 fee is non-refundable even if rejected ✓ Only apply through students.kuccps.net
