You've seen the Germany placements. You've seen the salary talk. But most people still don't actually know what Physiotherapy at KMTC involves. Let's fix that.

MYTH vs REALITY

✗ MYTH: "Physiotherapy is just massage and stretching"

✓ REALITY: Physiotherapists assess and treat physical conditions affecting movement and function caused by injury, surgery, neurological disease, or disability. This includes stroke rehabilitation, post-accident recovery, sports injury treatment, and helping children with cerebral palsy regain mobility. It's clinical rehabilitation science, not a spa treatment. Business Radar

✗ MYTH: "Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy are the same thing"

✓ REALITY: Different scope entirely. Physiotherapy focuses on physical movement, strength, and pain management. OT focuses on helping patients perform daily living activities — dressing, cooking, working. Different training, different treatment approaches, different patient goals.

✗ MYTH: "There's no real demand for physiotherapists in Kenya"

✓ REALITY: Kenya's Universal Health Coverage push, rising lifestyle diseases, increased road traffic accidents, and a growing elderly population have all widened the gap between the physiotherapists the country has and the physiotherapists it needs. And that's before counting the international demand — 84 KMTC graduates are already working in Germany, with more being processed. Business Radar

Entry requirements:

KCSE minimum aggregate of C, with C in English or Kiswahili, C- in Biology, and C- in any two of Chemistry, Physics/Physical Sciences and Mathematics. Education News Hub

Who regulates this profession:

All graduates must pass Physiotherapy Council of Kenya (PCK) pre-registration examinations before practising legally. This is your licensing body — not the Nursing Council, not the Clinical Officers Council. Business Radar

Where you work after graduating:

Hospitals, rehabilitation centers, sports clinics, NGOs — and graduates can even start their own physiotherapy practice. Add to that the international pipeline currently expanding to Germany. Education News Hub

The Bottom Line:

Physiotherapy is one of the clearest examples of a KMTC course with real, growing, verifiable demand — locally and internationally. The graduates already working in Germany prove the international pathway is real, not theoretical.
